While citizens of many countries (including the EU/EEA, UK, Switzerland, USA, Canada, and Japan) can enter Italy for short stays without a visa, entry requirements for the Schengen Area have been updated ahead of 2027. Please review the categories below to determine what documentation you need for CILIA2027.
1. Visa-Exempt Travelers (ETIAS Required)
Citizens from countries that do not require a visa — such as the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and Japan — must now obtain an ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) travel authorisation before arrival in Italy.
- → What it is: A simple online registration linked to your passport
- → Validity: Valid for 3 years, or until your passport expires
- → Where to apply: Only via the official ETIAS website (see Quick Links below)
2. Schengen Visa Required
Participants from countries not covered by the visa-waiver agreement must apply for a Schengen Visa (Type C) through the Italian Embassy or Consulate in their country.

3. Invitation Letters
If you require an official conference invitation letter for your visa or ETIAS application, please follow these steps:
- 1. Register: Complete your registration for CILIA2027 via the Registration page.
- 2. Request: Send an email to our organising secretariat, Achelois Srl, at info@achelois.eu.
- 3. Include: Your full name (as on passport), date of birth, passport number, and institutional affiliation in your request.
